We are super excited to announce that we are underway with Phase 2 of our renovation project!!

We were lucky enough to be given a $20,000 grant from our local MP, John Carey, last year as an election promise.  John was highly supportive as Mayor during our Phase 1 renovation and always knew that we had planned more upgrades, if we had more money (and time and energy!)!

Well, here we are! “Highgate Reno Phase 2” will include a minor Kitchen Zone makeover with a replacement stove/oven and new overhead cupboards, some decorative acoustic sound panels in the Active Zone, and perhaps most excitingly, a designated, enclosed, outdoor play area!!

The Committee proposed this idea with a solid business case to the council last year.  We wanted an outdoor space that our toddlers could play safely and freely, away from pedestrian traffic coming through the gates, and from the public playground with equipment that is designed for older kids.  After hearing member feedback, we wanted to ensure our members could feel comfortable and be able to RELAX a little when the kids were moving in and out! Playgroup is about YOU too!! 💜

There will be a 1m high timber post fence installed fence to fence, along the boundary between the concrete and the soft fall ground.  There will be a gate installed to access the main playground from Playgroup.  We will be activating the play area with some nature play elements such as timber steppers & bench logs, musical instruments, an activity wall and a timber teepee!! 🏕🌳🍂

This new “Toddler Area” will be exclusive to HPG during playgroup sessions and private functions.  At all other times the space will be free for the public to enjoy as well!!

The Committee is very excited about this project, and very grateful to John Carey MP, and the Department of Communities for supporting us with the funds to make it happen.

Stay tuned for our grand opening and check out our Facebook page for behind-the-scenes renovation shots! 🎉🎉
